The Reserve Read

458 Speciale: the model is not the comp set.

The 458 Speciale remains one of the most closely followed modern Ferraris because it combines the final naturally aspirated mid-engine V8 architecture with the factory special-series formula. Recent public results show a very wide spread, which is exactly why mileage, color, stripe configuration, options, ownership history and Classiche / documentation status must be normalized before a comp is useful.

For sellers

Exceptional low-mile Speciales deserve patient, chassis-specific positioning. Average cars should not be priced from a headline Monterey result without normalization.

For buyers

Do not overpay for mileage alone. Specification, history, paint condition and the completeness of the car should be weighed against the price premium.

Public evidence is a snapshot, not an appraisal. Auction venue, fees, geography, condition, history and specification can materially affect comparability. Private-market pricing may differ from public auction results.

Private Acquisition Mandate
